If you are considering having a Garden this year, due to the increased Cost of Living or a desire to be more self-sufficient, you may find this Post beneficial. This is a long post, so eventually I will break it down into bite size pieces, for those looking for specific Topics.  In the meantime, for future reference I offer several links for your convenience. Some I have personally used as my skills were honed over the years, others I have added so the Reader can better understand what I am referring to.

As a whole, I find Gardening to be therapeutic and a sacred time of prayer where I commune with our Heavenly Father and He communes with me as our Master Gardener. For me this is likened to moments of tending the Garden of Paradise, enjoying the process of creativity and nature about us while conscience of our Creator enjoying these moments with me.

Each season is unique and brings with it its own set of lessons, both spiritual and natural. I will be sharing some of them on this Blog by way of Practical Tips as well as examples of how the Holy Spirit taught me what it means to us to 'walk in the Spirit' as He Teaches and Guides me according to Father's will for my life, day by day, season to season.

For example, one year I sensed Father telling me to allow some of our Beds to lie fallow and not to grow to preserve or eat fresh that year, (I Can, Dehydrate, Freeze Store Produce, as well as share) At the end of the Season I could see why and was delighted I listened. My efforts would have been in vain due to the combination of what at that time was a rare Weather Pattern and a broken wrist I carelessly brought on myself. At the end of the season, as usual, I planned on winterizing the Garden. So, before the injury I sought the mind of our Lord as to whether lying fallow included excluding those chores as well.

At the beginning of each Veggie and Fruit Season, previous winterizing enables me to pull back a layer of straw mulch and put in a plant and top dress it with compost; refreshing the straw as needed. Mulch not only keeps in moisture and enriches the soil as it decomposes, but helps keep the weeds down making spring clean-up easier.

The first time I was inspired to do this Hubby tilled and raked out the weeds. I put down a layer of recycled cardboard and thick newspapers near where the plants were to be and in the walkways, before putting down a thick layer of straw. After that, at the end of the season we would add extra straw once we cleared the bed of non-beneficial debris and weeds, for the winter. Cardboard and Newspaper can be found at Recycling Centers.

Bulk Straw is found at a reasonable cost via Craigslist or through word of mouth. You can also find it at Lowes or your local Farmer's Cooperative   (Bulletin Board) for a little bit more. Make sure it's straw and not Hay, as Hay has seeds. Decomposing Straw is fine too, and some Farmers will give it away free.

If possible, I try to stay in the walkways and thus not pack down the soil. Now that our Beds are established, I have learned to take advantage of Companion Planting and rotate our crops to avoid diseases and destructive insects as well as depletion of the soil.

Creating Beds in this way helps immensely ...  I remember the first year I was inspired to mulch with straw, our area had its first serious drought. While Neighbors lost their plantings, we had food.  The drought was so severe the State trucked in water.  The local Restaurants had to have Portable-Potty’s, could only use paper and plastic Products, and bottled water.  Following our intuition, what we discern as the Holy Spirit's leading, even if we do not always understand why we are being moved in a certain direction had definitely worked for us. I encourage others to try to see if it works for them too, if you have not already done so.

It saddened me to leave some of the potatoes in the ground, and to leave our final harvest of Green Beans to dry on the vine one year, because we had more harvest than I could handle and no one available to help us harvest or preserve it. I assumed that because the frost hit them they would not germinate, (I learn a lot from trial and error). To my amazement, the Green Beans self-sowed after I pulled the vines down and by way of composting, put straw on top of them as I readied the bed!  Joy… Green Beans need warm soil to germinate, so they can be planted later; they only take 60 days to harvest.

To our surprise as I inspected the Beds the following spring, we discovered some crops (potatoes, beets, and missed carrots and parsnip) overwintered. I decided to let the Carrot and Beets go to seed and let the Potatoes grow, keeping an eye out for late Blight as they do. Since then, I have discovered Potatoes produce seed. With that in mind, I decided to do some research and find out what crops actually will self-sow and or come back the next year.

Over the years I have added on the delightful chore of  seed saving (flowers too). I knew from research some flowers self-sow and have taken advantage of that knowledge when I have made my choices of what to plant by way of Companion Planting and for the sake of bringing in beneficial insects and pollinators. As I cleaned up the Beds during spring, I discovered other flowers that self-sowed as well. What a thrill, no need to save so many seeds at the end of the season!  Works for me!!! Not only will I save time but storage space, (we live in a small cottage on an acre in the country). In addition, there will be less work to do next season if properly managed. However, I do suggest if you have the space, that you save seeds, for some remain viable for several years.

One spring, due to another unseasonable Weather Pattern and my Hubby extending our main Fruit and Vegetable Bed for us, I was late getting in most of our starter plants. This was not a problem, as they kept well in the small Greenhouse Hubby build us the previous fall.  Had they all been planted, some could have died in the unusually late frost that took place that year.

That gave me the opportunity to try out what I learned about emergency Frost Proofing  our Garden.  I covered two tomato plants with tall wooden fruit bushel baskets. I temporarily put extra straw over the sprouted Green Beans and Lettuce. I covered some flowerpots with Pillow Cases; clear large Trash bags work equally well.

If you want to extend the Season, early or late, used lightweight sheets or sheer curtains will do nicely, as will turned over large vases or plastic milk jugs, clear totes or buckets for Cloches. I found the sheer curtains draped over bush beans or greens will keep the Deer from consuming them. If you are concerned about the look, dye them green. Old Windows can be made into Cold Frames. There is a lot that can be grown throughout the winter. Having chosen to live a frugal life, we do not mind if the Garden does not look perfect.

The cool weather and root crops were fine … most of our Fruit Trees had already bloomed and had fruit growing. The frost did not affect them, as it had in previous years. For that, we were grateful. Any concerns we had about getting our plants in late lifted. Planting later than recommended in our zone also seems to bring in less of the harmful insects; it seems to be they have already found other food gardens to eat.

In the meantime, I had plenty to do by way of transplanting and working on the other Beds while Hubby was busy with other gardening chores. I learned a longtime ago it is usually necessary to transplant or pot up something and find while I enjoy our permanent Beds, I also like creating new ones or redesigning old ones with those that need to be divided up or transplanted, that I do not give away.  I can see though, as I age, in days to come I will need to forego that pleasure. I have too many Beds to maintain well now and the price of that is, my Beds are not perfect in appearance (never have been actually, but I like the Cottage Garden look) and are not always as successful as I intended. However, that is not a problem for me ... I've learned to be content and do the best I can and enjoy the moment, letting go of expectations; as ultimately I am not the one in control of the outcome, too many variables that take place has proven that to be the case on numerous occasions over the years.

In my early days, I was pleased to find some Medicinal Herbs and added them alongside a larger variety of Culinary Herbs. Several of them were self-sowing or spread, which kept me from having to reseed them or fill in the spaces the next season. I enjoy preserving these as well, using and sharing them all year.

OK... enough for this Post. As always, your Comments, additional Tips, Questions, Links and Suggestions are encouraged, not just for my benefit but also for other Readers, so do not be shy.
'Jesus, You teach those who have ears to hear Your Voice, it is wisdom to seek first Your Kingdom and Righteousness and in the doing all things will work out for the good.' was the beginning of my prayer.

I had written a check unaware my husband has written one too. After a time of separation, we were trying to work things out with God's help; communication was obviously one of the things we were being shown we needed to work on first. I was particularly distressed my check was going to bounce because due to my driving on a bad inspection ticket, it was to pay a fine to the Police Department. I was sure I would be arrested if God did not intervene and show me what to do next.

Being a newborn in my spiritual understanding, I was trying to stand on my own two feet and I did not have a peace about borrowing money when our vehicle failed inspection.  Knowing my family was concerned that I had taken my Husband back after becoming a born again Believer, deterred me from seeking help from them. In days gone by... I had borrowed more than I cared to and I had made a decision not to do so this time; thinking that would be what God expected of me as we began this new life together in the Spirit.

Before learning the lesson of Presumption, when our sole Vehicle failed inspection, without seeking the Lord's will and wisdom on the matter, I presumed I already knew it and asked Father if he would keep me from being pulled over and stepped out with the hope and assumption he would protect me as I drove back and forth to work.  To think otherwise, filled my mind with worst case scenarios.  Like others I have met since, I presumed I had no other recourse than to drive it to work with a bad inspection ticket and take my chances ... I needed to keep my job, if I lost that, I'd loose my Apt. I needed money to make the car legal... so I assumed under the circumstances, the wisest thing to do would be to just drive it back and forth to work.  I had no problem walking everywhere else and was conscientious about this because I was given a desire that my life to be lived with integrity.

I was surprised when I was pulled over... and sought the mind of the Lord as to why this was allowed.  His Holy Spirit convicted me of my foolishness in not asking and listening for His Guidance and will first... teaching me a valuable lesson on assumption.  He also revealed to me that His will, will vary from day to day and urged me to seek it daily and not project from my past as He taught me various lessons during my spiritual journey of faith.

I continued my prayer... repenting for not seeking His wisdom and will first, (once again, would the Spiritual Habit before formed I wondered) and sought His provision in the doing. As I listened intently I was given the gift of faith to believe that He was going to provide in an miraculous way and all I needed to do for now was to trust Him. I was told I was to trust in His love and His desire to provide without my having to turn to others first in my times of need. I was encouraged to ask for His manifested will and power before I began each day, henceforth as He reminded me, He has a plan which is unfolding, which is motivated by love and His omniscience presence, power and authority as HE raises me Spiritually in the way I am to go.  I fully expected something to happen and would not have been surprised had an Angel appeared... the faith I had received as I listened was so strong.

Instead... I received a letter from the Police Department. The Officer on my case had been dismissed due to corruption and all of his cases were being thrown out and they were returning my uncashed check.

Years later... after learning experientially, the Spirit of God desires for us to trust Him and that He has a plan which is unfolding for wondrous purposes, in the midst of oppression, I was given an Angelic Encounter.  During that Encounter... I received the understanding, the time would come when I would be sharing such testimonies as above, to encourage those who are struggling and seeking His truth and wisdom for their own lives. I understood part of His Plan for my life was for me to comfort and encourage with the comfort and wisdom He has given me, and in the doing... offer hope to those who are seeking Spiritual Truth and a intimate relationship with their Creator ... to inspire them the reach out to HIM for themselves. For those interested in such testimonies... know, it is my hope I will be inspired to share such here, in future blogs.

For now... may you be given the will to receive the fullness which is your as a child of God, with all your heart... and be an encouragement in the doing.
When I got my first bad tooth ache... I asked the Lord if it was His will to heal me of this.

Having been healed of a *Tubular Pregnacy with a Creative Miracle, I knew HE could do something similar regarding my tooth if that was part of His Spiritual Plan for my life's lessons at this time. As I sought His mind on this occasion I remembered a time I was scheduled for Surgery for a Herniated Disc. Upon seeking the mind of the Lord as to whether this was His will or not... I heard in my Spirit, 'Be obedient to the Doctor and you will not need Surgery.'

The Dr said, 'You're too inflamed for the Surgery. We will schedule it for two weeks from now. In the meantime rest, avoid all stairs and don't pick up anything heavier than a 5 pound bag of potatoes, Take this for pain and................'

I was obedient to the Lord's revealed will and the surgery was canceled. Although back problems run in our family and I had major back issues previous to this... since that day I only get occasional back aches. For such I am truly grateful!  Now, when I know of others going though situations similar to mine, I pray with compassion in hopes they too will reach out to receive of the fullness of His will for them, hopefully through an intimate relationship which imparts joy and an inner knowing which births peace.

On this occasion, as stated, I was waiting upon the Lord to show me if it was His will to heal my tooth and what my part would be if any.  Initially I received no direction. When the pain got to the point where I could no longer bare it... a strong impression of a Phone Book and the words, 'It's time to find a Dentist.' came to mind.

Before opening the Phone Book, I asked for the one of His choice and for His provision regarding the payment of the Bill, as my account was empty.  A Dentist's name leapt off the page and I called for an Appointment. I told the Dentist my concern was not just the tooth, I was in need of setting up a payment plan, if he was willing to work something out. Otherwise I would call around.  He set up the Appointment for Sunday... although I was grateful, I was stressed me out because I knew emergency rates were higher. A feeling of being overwhelmed financially began to overtake me, but I renounced it and chose to trust He would work it all out for the good ... a Revelation He made alive in My Spirit and causes me to experience as His Truth for my life.

Upon arriving at the Dentist, I tried to discuss the payment issue in advance... but was ushered back to the Dental Chair instead.

Perhaps you can imagine my awe when upon completion the Dentist said, 'I am a Christian. Any work I do on Sunday I do in the name of Lord Jesus Christ.  There will be no fee.  Consider this a gift from God.'
Millionaire gives away Fortune that made him miserable.  When every penny of his estimated $4.7 million fortune is gone, he says, he intends to move into a small wooden hut in the mountains or a studio in Innsbruck.

Millionaire Karl Rabeder is getting rid of his Millions because he discovered rather than making him happy they did the opposite: ""More and more I heard the words: 'Stop what you are doing now – all this luxury and consumerism – and start your real life'," he said. "I had the feeling I was working as a slave for things that I did not wish for or need."

As we seek to have what we need and want
... the true joys of living ...
let us not forget about the possibility  a desire for too much money and things
could enslave us to Consumerism and
an unhealthy need to build our self worth with that which will loose it's value,
while tempting us to not care about how our actions affect our soul,
others we meet along the way, our planet and future generations.
Perhaps a wiser way of Being is to remember to ask ourselves,
'when will enough be enough' 'how much of what we have do we actually use'
'is the cost of getting it worth having it'
'how much energy do we really want to spend managing our time, money
and all the things Society tells we need to surround ourselves with in order to find happiness'
'is a simplified life more conducive to true joy, self respect and harmony with all of life'?
If we don't stop to think things through objectively ... for ourselves,
will we be in danger of being caught in the trap of believing having more,
doing more, experiencing more will give the happiness we are told is lacking;
unaware we may be chasing after an illusive butterfly and the vain imaginations
Commercialism seeks to deceive us with so IT can prosper at the expense of authentic happiness.
If we become obsessed with spending all our time going after money and things trying to make a name for ourselves in relationship to what it can buy and do because of a Fragile Ego, we may find we have little time  to enjoy what may really matter to the care of our soul  and the soul of those we love,
we may loose sight of our own moral integrity  .... of who we are really Being
in relationship to the love of money, to the planet
and most of all to those we love and whose love we ultimately desire ... the true joys of living.

Karl Rabeder
Austrian millionaire Karl Rabeder is giving away his fortune
Mr Rabeder, 47, a businessman from Telfs is in the process of selling his luxury 3,455 sq ft villa with lake, sauna and spectacular mountain views over the Alps, valued at £1.4 million.
Also for sale is his beautiful old stone farmhouse in Provence with its 17 hectares overlooking the arrière-pays, on the market for £613,000. Already gone is his collection of six gliders valued at £350,000, and a luxury Audi A8, worth around £44,000.
"My idea is to have nothing left. Absolutely nothing," he told The Daily Telegraph. "Money is counterproductive – it prevents happiness to come."
Instead, he will move out of his luxury Alpine retreat into a small wooden hut in the mountains or a simple bedsit in Innsbruck.
His entire proceeds are going to charities he set up in Central and Latin America, but he will not even take a salary from these.
"For a long time I believed that more wealth and luxury automatically meant more happiness," he said. "I come from a very poor family where the rules were to work more to achieve more material things, and I applied this for many years," said Mr Rabeder.
But over time, he had another, conflicting feeling.
"More and more I heard the words: 'Stop what you are doing now – all this luxury and consumerism – and start your real life'," he said. "I had the feeling I was working as a slave for things that I did not wish for or need.
I have the feeling that there are lot of people doing the same thing."
However, for many years he said he was simply not "brave" enough to give up all the trappings of his comfortable existence.
The tipping point came while he was on a three-week holiday with his wife to islands of Hawaii.
"It was the biggest shock in my life, when I realised how horrible, soulless and without feeling the five star lifestyle is," he said. "In those three weeks, we spent all the money you could possibly spend. But in all that time, we had the feeling we hadn't met a single real person – that we were all just actors. The staff played the role of being friendly and the guests played the role of being important and nobody was real."
He had similar feelings of guilt while on gliding trips in South America and Africa. "I increasingly got the sensation that there is a connection between our wealth and their poverty," he said.
Suddenly, he realised that "if I don't do it now I won't do it for the rest of my life".
Mr Rabeder decided to raffle his Alpine home, selling 21,999 lottery tickets priced at just £87 each. The Provence house in the village of Cruis is on sale at the local estate agent.
Since selling his belongings, Mr Rabeder said he felt "free, the opposite of heavy".
But he said he did not judge those who chose to keep their wealth. "I do not have the right to give any other person advice. I was just listening to the voice of my heart and soul."

Years back I read or heard that it takes 14 times of doing something to form a habit and wisdom comes through experience. While doing something repeatedly a groove is formed in our brain. The more we do it the deeper the groove is embedded. I have kept this in mind... especially as I have gotten older and desire healthier ways of thinking and being; not only in regard to the wisdom and good habits which could come, but also keeping in mind to the old ones I'd like to replace.

DailyGood a while back seems to confirm what I read years ago. It said: "Brain researchers have discovered that when we consciously develop new habits, we create parallel synaptic paths, and even entirely new brain cells, that can jump our trains of thought onto new, innovative tracks".

I've mentioned the link Daily Good before... for those who missed that link here is a sample from one of their Blogs:

Knowledge is not the same as wisdom."

Be The Change:

Do you have knowledge that you are not putting into action because you are waiting for more knowledge? This week translate that knowledge into action ... and perhaps wisdom will arise from the experience.

Oh....  and as your Being the change please keep in mind the ways you use the Key of Balance  and you may want to consider Christine Holbaum's Book The Power of Slow. There is a Chapter on Habits.  Here is my Review on her and her Book.

Enjoy!
"Brendi...." began my Dad a CPA, when I entered High School in 1964, "you and I both know you're not College material even if I can afford to send you 3 girls and more importantly your 3 brothers when the time comes.... it's best for you to learn Secretarial Skills so you can take care of yourself until you marry. When you get married your Husband will take care of you, so you can stay home like your Mom and take care of your Husband and your Home and raise your Children together."

These were the words which came to mind when my first Husband could not find, to quote his mother 'a decent job'.  He along with other Soldiers who were leaving Military Service at the end of the Vietnam War in the 70's were flooding the Employment Market.

It had been our desire that I be a stay at home Mom and Wife but his Mother was putting pressure on us for the opposite to take place.

His Mother never wanting to be ignored, and not afraid to show her disappointment screamed at us more than once words such as these, "I did not send my only child to College so you could become a Debit Collector, you need to find a Career worthy of you." and "You need to hold out for a decent job. You were an Officer in the Marine Corps and should be looking for a Career not just a Job." "You need to get a real Job, I don't care how long it takes, you hear me? "You need to make her go find the menial job, while you look for a Career. No son of mine........"

As one with a desire to be a decent Wife and Mother, I took it upon myself to find several part time jobs working from Home after my Husband quit his menial job so he could find a Professional one. The thought to take up my initial line of work, as a Professional Secretary never entered my mind, because I wanted to Parent our Children during the day.  The reality of seeking out someone one else to raise them was something my conscience could not allow. When the Eviction Notices began to come in, fear was added to my feeling like a failure. So even though I hated leaving my Husband, Baby and Toddler, I took a job away from Home in the evening as well, because he refused to do so. Inwardly I carried a lot of anxiety and the emotional pain of shame which ultimately began to overwhelm me when my first Husband turned to drinking and blaming me for our problems.  His mother added fuel to his fire by agreeing with him on one hand and berating him on another. Their words added insult to injury adding to the weight of the sense of responsibility I was carrying alone.

Years later I was able to look back with compassion, as I remembered being very exhausted and depressed during that season of my life. By the time my breaking point arrived, I was in the habit of drawing the drapes once the children went down for their naps so I could sit in the darkness and wrap myself up in my own arms while I rocked my body to and fro to soothe myself as I cried.  Finally I got to the place where I knew I could no longer live like this, if not for my sake, then for the sake of our Children. Even though I knew Jesus as my Savior, I had never been taught I could reach out to God as my Father for guidance or help ... but in desperation, I finally did ... it seemed like the right thing to do.

Praying and asking for my Heavenly Father's help gave me strength and a sense of direction and hope. On the heels of praying I heard about Government Subsidized Housing and a Government Program designed to help single Moms with Children under the age of 6, stay at home and raise their own Children with Public Assistance. Remembering how I was raised to be a stay at home Mom, my conscience led me in this direction. I was now of a mind that our children needed the security of my mothering influence at their stage of development more than things, so I decided to apply for this Program to see what might happen.

I was amazed as to how the doors quickly opened up for me to move into Section 8 Housing once I sensed this was the wisest choice for now. I was told there was a 2 year waiting list, but the Rental Manager called me, (after I prayed for Father's will) informing me she had decided to put me on top of her list.

At this point I fought back the shame and finally told my parents what was taking place. My Dad was furious when he discovered my Husband was not willing to take any job he could find to support his family. He didn't care what his mother expected of us and felt strongly that a man was created to take care of his family however he can, while his partner supports him.  Dan agreed it was wise that I leave and offered to pay the Deposit and help in any way he could.

When I felt I had no other choice, I received the nerve to call my Husbands Mother and blurted out something like this, "I know you think your
only child needs to hold out for a Career, but when I walked in the door around 2:30 AM from working at Pizza Hut and found your son passed out drunk, our son and daughter crying, she still in the same diaper she was in when I left at 4:45 pm, laying on drenched sheets, her clothes and blanket soaked all of the way through, I made some tough decisions you may not like. I've found your son a job as a Photographer in a Studio. In order for him to take it he needs new glasses, as he broke his in a drunken stupor and we can't afford to replace them. If you want to help him find him better employment, that's up to you. I just got us caught up on paying off our 3rd Eviction Notice... our Landlord has been working with me and she has agreed to let us out of our Rental Agreement without penalty. I am leaving our Vehicle with your son, so he can go to work. I have found Subsidized Housing within walking distance of everything we need. Your son can visit our children, but he can't come with us, because I am going on Public Assistance so I can raise our babies, rather than have someone else do it. I think being raised with a full time Mother is more important than things at their age! Your son has given up on looking for a career, in an effort to please you and meet your expectations. He spends his days and nights drinking now. We tried to work things out, but he says his Therapy Group says he drinks to much because of me and you say you agree with him. As his Mom perhaps it's better that you be the one to try to get his thinking right, so he can support his family someday. He refuses to listen to me.  So... my mind is made up ... I won't allow our children to live like this any longer! If you don't take your son in, he has no place to go."

The Housing I found in Reston VA was an Apt, if I remember correctly my share was $225.00 a month. It was a new Government Planned Community and rents were determined by our income. We had air conditioning, dishwashers, basic cable, pool privileges, on site play grounds, our nearest neighbor was the Elementary School.  Being able to provide my children with this sense of security made my heart sing with joy... such helped to soothe the grief I felt, as I knew my decisions were going to be hard on them.

Once I started this new beginning... with a budget of $400.00 a month, plus medical care for the Children and Food Stamps, I knew I needed to become ingenious and take advantage of practical resources I was discovering were available to those who have a low income in a Wealthy County ... for our Children's well being and my own sense of self worth as a Mom.

Almost immediately I heard about the Fairfax VA County Home Extension Service, which had literature on Frugal Shopping and Cooking and Living on a Budget. While reading, I was inspired to teach myself how to make all our food from scratch to include baby food and decided to apply the Frugal Techniques that had come across my path.

As our Children grew I took advantage of our Apt Community Center which did fun things, like Kiddy Parades and Costume Contests at Halloween, Easter Egg Hunts and the like. My Children's Costumes were Homemade and I found great pleasure in further developing my creative side. I also took advantage of Community Scholarships for our children like Free Swimming Lessons, Art Lessons and Ballet Lessons, which were made available for Families with a low income. Thank You Father for Generous Hearts...

It was during this new beginning, that I eventually turned my life completely over to Father God for His will to come into being and learned to hear His voice and follow His leadings and apply His daily guidance as a child born of His Spirit. Almost immediately Father revealed HimSelf to me as our Supernatural Provider and Healer and proved HimSelf as He answered prayers .... healing me spirit, soul and bodily.... teaching me and training me in the way HE knew was best as He set me free from a victim mentality, debilitating shame and more ... replacing it with a deep sense of joy, even in the midst of life's storms.

When friends in our small Community would mention their need, I'd pray for them... to my delight someone would offer me just what was needed and I'd pass it along, praising Father for HIS faithfulness. Being in similar circumstances, as friends and neighbors we took turns baby sitting for one another... giving us Mom's the opportunity to have some times of refreshing. We shared meals and passed along toys and clothing and ultimately spiritual insights, as we matured and became like an extended family, enabling what we had to work with, to stretch further than it would have otherwise.

In order to live within our means, sometimes I washed our clothes in the tub and hung them around the Apt to dry. Back then when one bought food with Food Stamps, we would get change ... I would save it up to buy toilet paper and the like, as funds were very tight. I walked back and forth to the store with a pull cart while a friend watched our Children and I did the same for her. As our children grew I worked hard to make their lives better and to move us to a better environment.  I understand what it is to struggle with oppression and am pleased those days are behind us, but know I am a better person because of them in many ways and do not regret them.  Ultimately the hardships of life have been a blessing in that they enable me to appreciate the joys of life more fully. Father has used them to make me aware of  who I am Being ... my Attitudes in the midst of Trials and Opportunities is equally as important as what I am doing to get through them. His Spirit has made me more conscious of my daily choices and habits as I have matured Spiritually; making me more aware of not only how my choices affect me, but others.

Please know, I have shared the details above, with the hopes it will encourage those who find themselves in a place in life that they never expected to be... to reach out to God our Loving Father for His Wisdom, Provision, Guidance, Restorative Power and more  if they have not done so already ... and to open a window into the life of one who was on Public Assistance for a Season; to show how beneficial it can be in times of crisis and need ... until such a one is strong enough to move on and upward.

As it is In Heaven may it be So on Earth
